RODEO:

After I shot the photo this boy changed into dungarees and competed in the calf-roping event in a Sunday rodeo outside a small town in Mexico state.

EL ZOCALO:

Unseen in this shot of the zocalo in Guayaquil are dozens of large iguanas in the trees, some of them more that two feet long. Also unseen is the oppressive heat and pungent tropical odors that permeate everything.

EL ABARROTE (GROCERY STORE):

This was shot in a small mountain town in Chiapas in the south of Mexico bordering on Guatemala. There were several small children, two of them hers, running around the store when I stopped to shoot this. I set the camera on a counter that ran perpendicular to the one she’s leaning on to steady it.

ESCALERAS DE MADURA (WOODEN STEPS):

I saw this woman leaning out her first floor window in Belize City and stopped to talk with her. She saw my camera and asked if I would take her picture. I only shot this one frame. When I got back to the States I sent her two prints in separate packages, gambling that at least one of them would get to her.
